North Cascades National Park

START:  Marblemount, WA     TODAY:     209 Miles
END:      Riverside, WA           TOTAL:   6,068 Miles

Cascades Scenic Highway led us directly into the North Cascades National Park this morning.  It didn’t take long to witness our first beautiful sight, the Gorge Creek Falls.

The overlook at Diablo Lake left us breathless, with  360 degree vistas of trees, lakes and mountains.Glacier ground granite sediment caused the rich, deep color of the rivers and lakes.

Moving on, at Ross Lake we viewed the Cordilleran Ice Sheet, with the center mountain, Jack Mountain, at 9,066 ft.  Driving once again, we could not stop commenting on the incredible scenery and how lucky we felt to be experiencing this wonderful place we call the United States.

Some areas required a bit more effort to reach the best vantage point, but it was always worth it.

The scale of these amazing mountains was difficult to wrap your head around.

There was heavy snow in the shade of the trees along the roadway.  Snow in July – what’s a boy to do?

Another wonderful day filled with joy!
