Family Visit in Austin

START:      San Felipe, TX                       TODAY:         221   Miles
END:        Dripping Springs, TX               TOTAL:      1,329   Miles
CAMPGROUND:  Cottonwood Creek RV Park

Back on I-10 by 9:30 and the temperature was already 80 degrees.  After a couple of hours we turned onto the San Marcos Hwy to head the Austin area.  A message came in from Emma who just posted a 17.1 second clean barrel race – nice job, Emma.

The scenery included fields of corn, rolled bales of hay, ranches and open range as far as we could see.  The gentle rolling hills surprised us and added to the beauty of this area.  We passed through a couple of small towns which added to the character of today’s travels.

By 12:30 we were snuggled into our space at Cottonwood Creek Campground near Dripping Springs, TX.  The purpose of routing through Austin was to see our nephew, Gabriel, so we took off in the jeep and met him in Lakeview for a visit and shared a meal.  It was so good to see him looking well and happy.
When we returned to the campground we realized our picnic table was reserved by a local.

A late afternoon walk around the park, allow us to observe several deer on the edges of campsites.

Some of these campers are on monthly status and settled in for the season – the chandelier gave them away.

It also appeared that the owner of the park had a good sense of humor.

Since we had a strong wifi connection I was able to post to our blog while Ron work on some plan review work.
