Tri State Day

June 1, 2017

START:      Mariana, Fl                     TODAY:       326   Miles
END:          Madisonville, LA           TOTAL:       722   Miles

CAMPGROUND:  Fairview Riverside State Park

After dinner last night we felt an evening walk was a must since the air smelled clean and fresh following the rain shower.  Kids were riding bikes, campfires were ablaze and surprisingly fireflies were glowing.  No deer were sighted, but the scenery was rustic and calming.

We selected this little guy as our favorite camper.

Breakfast was at Egg and I in Pensacola with Betty and Marc, catching up on each other’s news and making plans for the future.  When we left, Betty gifted us with a container of homemade corn and crab chowder which we gratefully accepted.

Back on I10, listening to a Robert Crais book, we were back in travel mode, switching drivers and enjoying the sights.  Crossing Mobile Bay transported us back in time to 2012 as we reminisced about our time at Turner Marine on the boat and the potluck gatherings of fellow loopers.

This tunnel was our path under the main ship channel.  When we passed into Mississippi a little before 1:00 it was still raining and visibility was poor, but thirty minutes later the sky was azure blue with big puffy white clouds.

Ron secured a campsite for the night in Fairview Riverside State Park in Madisonville, LA.  He paid an extra five dollars (total of $31) for a site on the Tchefuncte River.

A snack on a bench along the riverside boardwalk was our reward for another good travel day.  This state park was absolutely beautiful!
